    Comments
Manufacturers Comments: Boats should be designed for having fun. Fun for everyone in the family
  • Many boat designs lose sight of having fun. The ultimate enjoyment of being out on the water with family and friends is lost on fidgety gadgets, complicated systems and questionable use of space. Safe, seaworthy performance is often compromised for modern styling and increased sleeping accommodations. None of this is true with the True North 38. Designed from the keel up as a safe, fast, comfortable passagemaker that functions as a base camp for all kinds of water sports activities, the True North 38 can be thought of as a modern, waterborne SUV. Consider its superior offshore performance capabilities, with its highly-efficient diesel power, and you see the inspirational influence of the New England workboat. Add the Pacific Northwest's requirement for a dry, comfortable pilothouse, and you understand the widespread appeal of this unique vessel. Built by one of America's most experienced boat builders, TPI Composites, the True North 38 utilizes today's most advanced technology and materials. The hull structure, designed and engineered to handle extraordinary loads, utilizes the patented SCRIMP process along with the finest fabrics and resins. This proprietary process results in a lighter, stronger structure, absent of all voids and imperfections. The real fun begins with you realise that you can easily stow your 10-foot inflatable in the huge cockpit. The dinghy also becomes the perfect place to carry your mountain bikes, beach toys and snorkeling gear. Because of the cockpit's wide dimensions, there's plenty of room to around it while underway. Extra-wide transom doors swing open for effortless launching and retrieving. Stow your kayaks on top of the low profile pilothouse and fishing rods under the aft side decks. There's room for everything an active family can think of. All because we did so much thinking before we built it. More importantly, there's plenty of room for family and friends to spread out in the spacious cockpit. Hull No.1 has already shown its ability to comfortable entertain groups of 15 or more. Open the transom doors (safely locked shut while the engine is running), and the entire cockpit becomes a swim platform with easy access to the water or the boat's tender. Beneath all the thoughtful amenities and beautiful design details is a tough, rugged boat designed to handle offshore conditions. Its single diesel engine delivers cruising speeds of between 18 and 24 knots with a safe range of over 300 miles and a top end of 25 knots. Thanks to special vibration and noise reduction systems, this is one quiet, smooth powerboat. She behaves in all sea conditions and can maintain her cruising speeds when much larger vessels head for cover. Punching into 6-foot head seas, she throws spray away, maintaining a soft, dry ride. In large following seas, her bow stays up, climbing over peaks, resisting the tendency of falling into a trough and causing unsettling bow steer. Once you realise how beautifully she handles even the nastiest of conditions, you'll confidently run her at speed, knowing she's built to take it. And the confidence continues, knowing that all hardware, equipment and systems have been selected to provide a long life of low maintenance and dependable performance. Above all, every design and construction detail has been carefully thought out to enhance your boating enjoyment. Brokers Comments: Inspired by the functional beauty of the New England workboat, the True North 38 has a distinct look of her own. And just like the best of her no nonsense, working relatives, her style is equally functional. Her plumb bow adds to her waterline. Her sweeping, reverse transom also adds to the waterline while increasing the interior dimensions of the cockpit. The main saloon windows are slightly lower than the pilothouse ones, providing a perfect sightline to the outdoors while seated at the dinette table. The low profile pilothouse not only adds to the vessel's svelte look, it makes it easy to access stowed kayaks and other gear. Her beautifully flared bow throws spray down and away, adding to the buoyancy while running into head seas. And her sweet tumblehome aft provides extra inches of valuable space along the cockpit floor. A heavily built anchor platform and low-profile windlass are as aesthetically pleasing as they are functional. Perhaps more than any other presently available boat, her form and function have come together in perfect harmony.
